Equipment

  • - Frying pan
  • - Tongs
  • - Paper towels
  • - Mixing bowls

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Oyster mushrooms cleaned and sliced
  • 1 cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp Garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp Smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

Prepare the Mushrooms:

  • - Clean the oyster mushrooms and slice them into bite-sized pieces.

Create the Coating:

  • - In a bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to create the dry coating.

Dip in Buttermilk:

  • - Dip the mushroom slices into the buttermilk, ensuring they are well-coated.

Coat with Dry Mixture:

  • - Roll the buttermilk-coated mushrooms in the dry mixture, making sure each piece is evenly coated.

Heat the Oil:

  • - In a frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Ensure there's enough oil to submerge the mushrooms.

Fry the Mushrooms:

  • - Carefully place the coated mushroom slices into the hot oil using tongs. Fry until they turn golden brown and crispy, usually 2-3 minutes per side.

Drain and Rest:

  • - Once fried, remove the mushrooms and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Allow them to rest for a couple of minutes.

Serve:

  • - Serve the Crispy Fried Oyster Mushrooms immediately. They pair well with your favorite dipping sauce.
